Dr. Janardan
Lamichhane, Associate Professor and HOD along with Dr. Sameer M Dixit,
Assistant Professor, from Department of Biotechnology were invited to
participate at a meeting with Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, Finance Minister of the Government of Nepal. The
meeting was held on 08/09/08 at the Ministry of Finance. The purpose of
the meeting was to gather information regarding fund allocation for the
upcoming budget (2008/09). Dr. Lamichhane and Dr. Dixit submitted a
concept paper on the importance of allocating adequate funds for biotechnology- based research. The focus was set on herbal, agriculture, biomedical research with emphasis on research into locally available resources.
