Kathmandu University (KU) is running a two year community education pilot project (2010-2012). From this project KU intends to establish outreach centers to expose its students and faculty members to rural environments, partly to enhance the students’ understanding of the rural living conditions, partly to enhance motivation for service in rural communities in the country.
Long term presence of the university is also intended to benefit the local communities in terms of development of small scale businesses and community services. Such services are thought to be planned and undertaken in close cooperation with local communities and partners already working in the target areas.
In this regards KU is going to organize a half day mini conference on Kathmandu University Community Education Pilot Project on 24th March 2012.
