Civil engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including works such as bridges, roads, canals, dams and buildings. Civil engineering is the oldest engineering discipline after military engineering,and it was defined to distinguish non-military engineering from military engineering.

Geomatics Engineering:

Geomatics (Surveying) Engineering Technology provides training in the collection, analysis, storage, distribution and application of spatial or three-dimensional data used in land development. It is is a modern discipline, which integrates acquisition, modeling, analysis, and management of spatially referenced data, i.e. data identified according to their locations.Based on the scientific framework of geodesy, it uses terrestrial,marine, airborne, and satellite-based sensors to acquire spatial and other data.
