Kathmandu University, School of Education (KUSOED) was established in 1997. The School began with the aim of improving the quality of education of the schools of Dhulikhel Municipality through an in-service teacher training program.

The KUSOED MPhil and PhD programs commenced in 1998. The School currently serves PGDE, MEd, MPhil and PhD students each year. With its vision of producing qualified and trained teachers, KUSOED has been conducting a postgraduate diploma in education (PGDE) program for secondary school teachers. The MEd program is popular among graduates seeking a career in teaching and teacher training. It is recognized as a program producing high quality, skilled teachers able to fulfill the needs of Nepalese schools. The MPhil and PhD programs are producing qualified educational leaders, development workers and research professionals in the education sector.
