Programme description
|
The ME in Electrical Power Engineering Programme is an international programme designed for improving the professional competence of electrical engineers in Nepal, South-East Asia, and.
The programme was started at KU in the year 2004 as the NORAD Fellowship Programme in cooperation with NTNU. The programme is administered by Center for International University Cooperation (SIU), Norway.
4 students from Nepal, 1 from Zambia, 1 from Indonesia, 2 from Bangladesh, and 1 from Sri Lanka graduated in the first batch of the programme. Similarly in the 2006 batch, 5 students from Nepal, 3 from Zambia and 1 from Tanzania graduated.
The ME in Electrical Power Engineering Programme under NOMA programme comprises study at both NTNU and KU. It is a sandwich programme with one semester at NTNU and three semesters at KU. The degree will be awarded by KU, mentioning the study at NTNU and the collaboration with NTNU. Currently 5 Students from Nepal and 4 students from Zambia are studying in this program.

General requirements
|
Eligible Countries: Nepal, Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Generally, 50% of the intake will be Nepal and rest from other countries.
· Relevant professional experience of 2 years · Leave of absence from your job in your home country · For countries where English is not the official language, a TOEFL test certificate or an equivalent documentation is required. A TOEFL score of 500 points (paper-based) or 170 (computer-based) is required. Age: Preferably 25-35 years
The programme aims at equitable access and gender parity and women are especially encouraged to apply.

Formal prerequisites
|
Applicants must hold Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks or 2.5 Cumulative Grade Point Average (on a 4 point grading system).

Recommended prerequisites
|
University undergraduate level knowledge in mathematics, power systems, electrical machines, system/control theory, electronics, electromagnetics, and materials science
Computer programming skill, numerical computation skill, English written and verbal communication skills.

Tuition
|
Students do not need to pay tuition fee.
Any tuition fee required by the universities is covered by the programme budget
