ABOUT: LAW AT KUSL

Kathmandu University School of Law (KUSL) is the seventh School in the Kathmandu University System. It is based in Dhulikhel municipality of Kavre District. It was established in December 2013 following the decision of the Senate in July the same year and some preparatory works accomplished by the Offices of the Vice Chancellor and Registrar. The University has trained confident, creative, and socially responsible professionals ever since it was established in 1991. The School of Law builds on this knowledge infrastructure.


MISSION STATEMENT

We at Kathmandu University School of Law believe that law is an honorable and valuable profession worthy of the public trust..

Our goal is to prepare our students to be critical thinkers, problem solvers, and leaders, with the flexibility to respond to changes in the legal profession. To that end, we blend practical skills training with legal theory throughout the curriculum as we strive for excellence in both teaching and scholarship.

Our mission is to produce a diverse group of graduates with the skill, judgment, and moral compass to become exceptional lawyers and legal professionals and socially responsible members of the global community.



ACCREDITATION

Nepal Bar Council which is the professional body of lawyers and legal practitioners in Nepal established and operating under Nepal Bar Council Act 2050 (1993) does not require any law school here to be accredited with it, or any other statutory organization. The School of Law, however, has maintained close links with the Council in its development and institutionalization process. It tries to be informed by the law school standards set by American Bar Association as far as applicable in the Nepalese context. Graduates qualify to take the bar exam in Nepal.
