Master Program in Planning and Operation of Energy Systems

(MPPOES)

The Master Program in Planning & Operation of Energy Systems (MPPOES) is the newly launched program at Department of Mechanical Engineering, Kathmandu University (KU) in collaboration with Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Norway (NTNU). The MPPOES is a NORAD’s Master Program within the energy and petroleum sector for Master and supported by Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD) and is administered by Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Norway.

The course is designed and targeted for professionals from developing countries who want to have a career in energy sector in areas of planning and operations. The program is a sandwich type program comprising one semester study at NTNU, Norway, and 3 semesters study at KU, Nepal. The degree is awarded by KU mentioning study at NTNU.

Students enrolled in the program are provided with scholarship for covering their living in NTNU, Trondheim, Norway, and KU, Dhulikhel, Nepal, and other study and welfare supports.

The program is monitored by a Steering Committee (SC) with members from KU and NTNU. The SC meets twice a year, examines progresses, handles problems, and other matters related to the program.

This Master Program will actively aim to recruit female candidates into the program. To pursue this goal 50% seats have been reserved for female candidates.

Application Process for 2012-2014 session has started.

Application Deadline: 10th December 2011.
