Department of Civil and Geomatics Engineering organized talk program on “Citizen Mapping in the Internet: Implications to Knowledge-based Activities” on February 3, 2012. Students from Geomatics program and faculties were present at the program. The guest speaker, Nama R. Budhathoki, highlighted different aspects of citizen mapping.
During the interaction session issues like use of citizen mapping as a component of Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI), quality of user-collected data, technical barriers for implementing citizen mapping in Nepal were discussed.
Dr Nama Budhathoki earned his doctorate from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA in 2010. After a year as a post-doctoral fellow at McGill University, he joined the Niti Foundation (http://nitifoundation.org/) in Nepal.
