Mr. Subash Ghimire, Assistant Professor and Co-ordinator of Geomatics Engineering program and Mr. Shashish Maharjan, Lecturer, Department of Civil and Geomatics Engineering has participated and presented the following papers in International Workshop on Advanced Geospatial Technologies for Sustainable Environment and Culture-2013 (as an event of ISPRS, Technical commission VI, Education and Outreach, Working Group 6) held in Pokhara, Nepal from 12-13 September, 2013. The Certificates of Appreciation and Tokens of Appreciation were awarded to both the presenters for their remarkable presentations by the steering committee of International Workshop on Advanced Geospatial Technologies for Sustainable Environment and Culture-2013.

Call for Papers: National Seminar on Media Ethics
The Department of Languages and Mass Communication, School of Arts, Kathmandu University is organizing National Seminar on Media Ethics on 23 March 2014 (9 Chaitra 2070 B.S.) with the aim of bringing together researchers, media professionals, media analysts, teachers and students. Through this seminar the organizer hopes to augment critical and interdisciplinary discussions on various aspects of media ethics.
We are inviting papers for presentations in the seminar. The papers may be focused on professional as well as academic aspects of media ethics. Research paper and presentation could be either in Nepali or English. No remuneration will be provided for the research papers. However, outstanding papers will be published in the post-seminar publications.Please note:

KTM Taxi Meter made by Computer Department student is in play store
KTM Taxi Meter, the android application which won LOCUS 2013 in Open Software category is now on Play Store. The application that works using GPS to track the users location and then show the distance and the charge every three seconds as well as the path travelled has been liked by many. The application was uploaded on Play Store in on September 5, 2013. It is also one of the projects representing Kathmandu University in CAN SoftTech 2013.
KTM Taxi Meter was developed as mini-project for the course of Embedded System by the third year students of the Kathmandu University and was supervised by Mr. Prakash Poudyal, Lecturer, Department of Computer Science and Engineering.
We wish our best wishes for them and urge everyone to download the application, use it, avoid being overcharged while travelling in Taxi and also give them feedbacks.

DoCSE participates CAN Softech 2013
Department of Computer Science and Engineering, School of Engineering, Kathmandu University was invited to participate in CAN SOFTECH-2013 held at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu, Nepal from 4th September,2013 to 7th September,2013. The department participated to display the semester projects of Computer Engineering and Computer Science students’. Altogether, eight projects were selected from 2nd semester and 6th semester projects. The four projects from sixth semester projects included two android applications- Automatic SMS Replier and KTM Taxi Meter, and two desktop based applications- Gesture Controls and Image Steganography. The other four projects from second semester projects included games such as Classroom Zombie Invasion, Coaster Points, Sudoku and Tic Tac Toe.
The displays of Projects along with demonstrations were organized at two different stalls- A18 and A123. Around fifteen hundred people willingly registered their email addresses wanting the applications for themselves. The sixth semester students have decided to make their projects free for all. Download links for these applications will soon be mailed to them as a payback for their seer generosity and willingness. Department of Computer Science and Engineering appreciate such active involvement of students at this event.
