KU is looking for committed, competent, and qualified professional to take up positions on contract basis:

Position: Lab Attendant

School: School of Engineering (Department of Chemical Science and Engineering)

 Job Description:

  •          Assists in the laboratory and carry out test
  •          Instructs in lab/ project in related courses
  •          Provides administrative support to the department / Lab.          
  •       Addresses the inquiries of the students, staff and faculties

Minimum Qualification Required

  •          Intermediate in Science (minimum second division) in from recognized institution / university  
  •          Good knowledge of chemistry and chemical handling
Preference for those with chemistry background. Only shortlisted candidate will be contacted for the recruitment process.

KU Alumni Discuss Entrepreneurship Development

A team of KU alumni discussed Entrepreneurship Development with graduating undergraduate students. The final year undergraduate students of Department of Computer Science and Engineering (DoCSE), Dept. of Bio-Technology and Dept. of Applied Physics jointly organized an Entrepreneurship-based talk/interaction program entitled “Entreprenerds’ Tales – Live the Stories! ” on June 23, 2017, at CV Raman Auditorium.

The programm was attended by over 250 students and faculty members.

The speakers for the event were Mr. Bobby Basnet, Co-founder of Semantic Creations and Managing Director of Visualize VR, Mr.Ashok Bhattarai, Co-founder and Production Manager of Praramva Biotech, and Mr. Sixit Bhatta, Co-founder of Tootle, a ride-sharing company. All three speakers had completed their undergraduate degrees from Kathmandu University in 2015, 2010, and 2002 respectively.

Their addresses were followed by Q&A session and panel discussion moderated by two representative students from the organizing team.

During his opening address, Prof. Dr. Bhupendra Bimal Chhetri, Dean, School of Engineering, welcomed the speakers and appreciated the effort put in by the students. The program was held under the supervision of course instructor Mr. Bibhu Ratna Tuladhar for the partial fulfillment of the Entrepreneurship Development course.

The event was supported by Humanities and Management Unit (HMU), School of Engineering.


Dr. Bisht Got a Review Article Published

Dr. Gunjan Bisht Thapa, Assistant Professor at the Department of Chemical Science and Engineering with Mr. Sajesan Aryal, student of Department of Biotechnology, published a review article entitled “New Paradigm for a Targeted Cancer Therapeutic Approach: A Short Review on Potential Synergy of Gold Nanoparticles and Cold Atmospheric Plasma” in  Biomedicines — Open Access Journal (Indexed in Emerging Sources Citation Index and PubMed), doi: 10.3390/biomedicines5030038

This review article is mainly focused on one of the recent therapeutic approaches of targeting cancer cells-combination of cold atmospheric plasma (CAPs) and gold nanoparticles (GNPs) and is published in the journal's special issue on “Photodynamic Therapy in Cancer”.
