Dr. Neopane and his research fellows participated in a Workshop at IIT Roorkee

Dr. Hari Prasad Neopane, Associate Professor & Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering together with his research fellows (Mr. Ram Lama, PhD candidate and Mr Dadi Ram Dahal, M.S. by Research candidate at TTL) represented Kathmandu University in “Workshop on Hydro abrasive erosion in hydro plants at IIT Roorkee”. The event was organized by Alternate Hydro Energy Centre, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, from 23-24 February at Roorkee, India.

Dr. Neopane delivered two presentations on “Steps involved in optimization studies for hydro abrasive erosion “and “Financial and economic analysis of hydro-abrasive erosion”. He has also co-chaired one of the sessions in the workshop.

Kathmandu University, School of Science, announces admissions open in M.Phil. (Part Time) in Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics.

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION

A Master’s degree in relevant subject with a minimum of 16 years of schooling and having a minimum of 50% marks or Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.5 in Master’s level on the scale of 4 from any recognized universities.

SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION

Application forms are available at the Office of the Dean, School of Science, Dhulikhel, Kavre, or on-line at the Kathmandu University, School of Science website.

Dr. Thapa participated in the Global SDG 7 Conference

Dr. Biraj Singh Thapa, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering represented Kathmandu University at “A global preparatory meeting in support of the review of SDG7 at the 2018 UN High-level Political Forum (Global SDG 7 Conference)”. The event was organized by United Nations ESCAP, from 21-24 February at Bangkok, Thailand.

Dr. Thapa delivered a presentation on “Collaboration to secure hydropower innovation and value creation” in the side event “Hydropower – part of the solution for sustainable development”.

Mr. Haris Adhikari Brings out His Second Literary Venture

Mr. Haris Adhikari, Lecturer in English at Humanities and Managment Unit, School of Engineering, has come up with his second literary venture, Sangam (2018), a bilingual anthology of 64 translated contemporary Nepali poems. The book covers three generations of Nepali poets from around 1990 to the present. Each translation precedes the original poem, with respective poet's bionote.

The anthology, published by Shabdayatra Prakashan, Kavre, was released on 10 February 2018 by Prof. Dr. Tulasi Diwasa and Prof. Dr. Jangab Chauhan, prominent writers and critics in Nepali literature.

Mr. Dahal Contributed a Book Chapter

Mr. Sudarshan Prasad Dahal, Assistant Professor of Media Studies  contributed a book chapter entitled on :'Media Biased in the Coverage of Political Conflict of Nepal’ in recently published book: Freinheit und Journalismus (Freedom and Journalism) - 2018 (pp. 189-205), edited by Andrea Czepek/Melanie Hellwig/Beate Illg/Eva Nowak. Publisher: Nomos Verlagsgesellschaft, Germany.

Dr. Bista Participated in IC3SE-18 International Conference

Dr. Rabindra Bista, Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (DoCSE), participated in the International Conference on Communication, Computing, Storage & Energy (IC3SE-18), 15-17 February, 2018 held at Zeal College of Engineering and Research, Narhe, Pune, India. As a Resource Person of the Conference, he gave Research Presentation in Health Informatics and chaired the first Technical Session of the conference as well.

During his this visit, Dr. Bista interacted with the senior faculties and management body of Zeal College of Engineering and Research, Professors from both Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi, Thailand, for future collaborations of Kathmandu University with them.

KU is pleased to invite application for Ford Foundation Endowed Chair at the level of Professor in Environmental Engineering/Science. The candidate should preferably have expertise in the field of pollution control, process engineering and interdisciplinary areas of environmental Engineering/Science.

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: PhD or its equivalent degree in relevant discipline and at least 12 years of teaching experience with good number of research publications in peer-reviewed international journals OR at least 12 years of research and industrial experiences from recognized institutions with good number of research publications. Depending upon the experience and academic/research profile of the candidate, Chair Professor position will be awarded.

SALARIES AND BENEFITS:  Salary is negotiable.  Additionally, accommodation of single bed room reasonably furnished with fixed kitchen utensils, and single round trip air ticket (economy class) from home town to Kathmandu once a year excluding family members shall be offered.

TENURE: Initial contract will be for a period of two years with the possibility of extension for three more years on Annual basis.

 

RESPONSIBILTIES: 

Responsibilities of Chair Professor include; 

  •          Teaching a minimum of two courses, carrying three credit (one Course of 3 Credit meaning 48 hours of lectures) each, one at Undergraduate level and other at Master’s level,  in one academic year.
  •          Guiding research at M.Tech. Environmental Engineering and MSc Environment and Natural Resources, at least three  PhD Research supervision, Dissertation Guidance / Supervision,
  •          Partnering in seeking external grants through development of International Research Project proposals,    
  •          Two Research Publications in air quality monitoring and control,
  •           Strengthening Laboratory Facilities and Equipments for Higher Research in  Environmental Pollution Science Laboratory ,
  •          Participation in workshop/ Seminar/Conference/Guest Lectures ,
  •          Organizing International Conferences, and
  •          Other Activities as advised by the Dean, School of Science

APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Interested applicants are requested to send in application along with latest resume, list of publications, testimonials, work experience letters, one recent passport size photograph, and names and contact addresses of two Referees.  Application received with incomplete or invalid documents and after the deadline will not be processed for shortlisting. Only the short listed candidate will be called for an interview.

Preference will be given to those who have work experience in IT / software services

Recent CV, copies of mark sheets and certificates of all academic degree qualifications/ transcripts, citizenship certificate, work and professional experience certificates (both existing and previous), and other credentials as applicable; Two recent PP size photographs should also be attached.

The POS-WASH program participants are hereby notified that the On-Site Exam (from Part 1: Video Based Learning) will be held in following time and venue:
