KUCAT 2014 – Online Practice Test

The online practice test is available at: http://cbtdemo.ku.edu.np

The online practice test is intended to make the applicants familiar with the Computer Based Test (CBT) and has two parts with five questions each.

The number of questions, topics and difficulty level do not reflect the actual computer based entrance exam.

The actual computer based entrance exam:

  •          has three parts: PCM or PCB, with 120 questions in total. Each part has 40 multiple choice questions.
  •          is 2 hour long.
  •          is not available online.
  •          is  graded on the scale of 0 – 2220.

Idea Studio “Soch Dekhi Udhyog Samma”

A joint initiative of the Kathmandu University School of Management (KUSOM) UNICEF/Nepal, ChildReach Nepal and Meeting Point “Idea Studio” is introduced with the objective to promote entrepreneurship among Nepali youths.

Idea Studio is creating a platform for generating innovative ideas from all over Nepal to address social and economic problems which will then be screened through a competitive process to select the most viable ones for incubating them at the School's Business Incubation Center to run as social and business enterprises with financial, technical and management support from various agencies. KUSOM is organizing a Talk Program for Information Sharing and Interaction Programme of Idea Studio for the Faculties and Students at Kathmandu University, Dhulikhel, Kavre.

Kathmandu University announces the opening of admission to the Undergraduate Programs in School of Science and School of Engineering for the academic year 2014/2015.

Candidates are required to take Computer-based Entrance Exam in either PCM or PCB.

1. Register your name for Computer-based Test (CBT) at http://apply.ku.edu.np/cbt. Candidates are required to register online before visiting the admissions office for admit cards.
2. Pay the required CBT and admission application processing fee of Rs. 1250 to any one of the following KU Account at any branch of the banks mentioned below.

Make an appointment for CBT and collect admit card.
4. Appear on Computer Based Entrance Exam. Please do not forget to bring your admit card and identification document along with you.
5. Fill up the online application form for admission. The online application form will be available from July 21, 2014 to July 28, 2014 at http://apply.ku.edu.np/admission.
6. Follow the announcements at http://ku.edu.np.

DoCSE and e-Learning Center Conduct Training on Moodle

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (DoCSE) successfully conducted a  training on “e-Learning Through Moodle” on June 19 and 20 in collaboration with e-Learning Center at Kathmandu University, Dhulikhel.

The training was divided into four sessions. In the opening session, distinguished  guests including Registrar and Associate Deans were present. Mr. Jae Min Kim from Korea, who worked as an e-learning expert in Kathmandu University, was invited as a guest. Dr. Bal Chandra Luitel, Associate Dean of School of Education, Subir Pradhananga and Sarina Piya from OLE Nepal shared their experiences of e-Learning. 

Mr. Sushil Shrestha, Asst. Professor, DoCSE, delivered lectures on “e-contents” and “Tips to prepare effective presentation” in the second session. In the third session, Mr. Rajesh Manandhar, researcher in E-learning center, presented on moodle system and its different features.” Similarly, Mr. Manoj Shakya, Asst. Professor, DoCSE,  discussed on “Quiz in Moodle” in the fourth
and final sessions.

Dr. Manish Pokharel, Head of the Department, handed over certificates to the participants and tokens of love to the resource persons.

Department of Pharmacy Organizes Alumni Reunion

The Department of Pharmacy (DoP), School of Science, organized Alumni Reunion at CV Raman Auditorium on June 14, 2014. 

The program was initiated by Forum for Pharmacy (FoP). 

Prof. Dr. Panna Thapa, Controller of Examinations and Dean of School of Science, inaugurated the program. Following his address to the graduates, there were speeches by Dr. Rajani Shakya, Acting Head of DoP,  and Mr. Sailendra Shakya, Lecturer of DoP and Staff Coordinator for FoP. 

On the occasion, the 2014 edition of Pharmaquest, the official newsletter of FoP, was launched.

In an experience sharing session with the alumni, Mr. Jaya Bir Karmacharya, an MPharm graduate (batch 2002) and present Managing Director of Omnica Laboratories, emphasized on the need of organizing fund-raising programs through alumni to provide scholarship to pharmacy students and to conduct healthcare programs.  Mr. Robash Kusum Subedi (BPharm batch 1997, MPharm batch 2002), Factory Manager, Vega Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd., expressed his keen interest to help KU all the time. Mr. Hiraman Shankhadev (BPharm batch 2001, MPharm batch 2009), Senior Pharmacist, Dhulikhel Hospital, suggested students to improve the practice of hospital pharmacy.



A discussion session on “Current scenario of pharmacy education at Kathmandu University and role of KU Pharmacy alumni for its improvement” was organized during the program. The alumni provided suggestions on quality education and better pharmacy profession.
