Additional Q&A for KU-IRDP Interaction Workshop

The participation from all over Nepal during interaction workshop organized at Kathmandu University on August 14, 2018 deserves the highest level of appreciation.  We are overwhelmed to have interaction with around 200 participations in the workshop and feel honored to receive several important queries. Some of them we could address during program itself however there were some written questions as well. The team from KU IRDP has made extensive review of the questions that were received and attached is the answer to them

DESE Organized One-day Workshop

Department of Environmental Science and Engineering(DESE), successfully organized one day workshop
on 15 th August 2018 at Kathmandu University, Central Campus, Dulikhel, Kavre. The program was
organized in collaboration with Society of Environmental Engineers of Nepal. The program had
presentation on selection criteria of wastewater treatment plants by Er. Bijay Thapa followed by another
presentation on low cost wastewater technology by Mr. Dirk Koot a wastewater expert from
Netherlands. As a part of the workshop a field visit to the rock filter treatment plant in the premises of
campus was done and the advantages of natural cleaning was discussed. The workshop was attended by
the students of M.Sc. in Environmental and Natural Resource and M.Tech. in Environmental Engineering.
The workshop helped the students to learn in a practical approach about the issues related to
wastewater technologies. Prof. Dr. Bibhuti Ranjan Jha, Head of the Department gave closing remarks
and highlighted on importance of this type of workshop for capacity building of the students.

Admission Notice for Waiting List Candidate-2018

 

Kathmandu University, School of Engineering, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (DoEEE) invite application from the candidates listed in waiting list of DoEEE. 

  1. Application should be submitted to the department up to 20th August, 2018; 3:00 P.M., Name, KUCAT ID and KUCAT score should be clearly mentioned in the application form.
  2. Candidates should meet the admission criteria as originally announced.
  3. Candidates who have already been enrolled in any one of the undergraduate programs are not eligible to apply.
  4. Candidates who are not listed in waiting list of DoEEE are not eligible to apply.
  5. Candidate listed in Communication group of waiting list are not eligible to apply for Power and Control group and vice versa.
  6. Request for the extension of the deadline will not be considered.
  7. Admission will be on Merit Basis.
  8. Notice for the offered candidate will be published on 21st August, 2018.

Announcement for Provisional Admissions in

Master of Science in Physics

(Date of announcement: 15th August 2018)

 

Kathmandu University School of Science (KUSOS) announces Provisional Admissions to M.Sc. in Physics for the first time, in collaboration with the European Organization for Nuclear Research(CERN) Geneva, Switzerland with possibility of invited faculty and internship for students in largest particle physics laboratory in world at CERN.  All eligible applicants are informed to fill the application form and submit to the concerned office of the Head of the Department no later than 7th September 2018.  All theory classes shall be held in KUSOM building, Balkumari, Lalitpur from 3-7 pm. Practical classes shall be conducted in Dhulikhel Campus.

Eligibility: Candidates who have completed 4 years Undergraduate/Bachelors' degree in Science with Physics major and minimum 2.0 CGPA or 50% in aggregate marks are eligible to apply. 

Submission of Application: Application forms are available at the Office of Head of the Department of Natural Sciences, School of Science, Dhulikhel, Kavre, or on-line at Download (www.ku.edu.np/kusos) at the Kathmandu University website.  Submit completed application form along with photocopies of previous academic and citizenship certificates to the concerned Office of the Head of the Department. Application with scanned documents submitted to email address given below is also accepted.

Only short listed candidates will be informed to appear for written test and/or interview. Application fee of Rs. 1500/-(non-refundable) may be deposited to Nepal Investment Bank Limited A/C No.: 00501030250009 at the time of interview.

Kathmandu University School of Science (KUSOS) announces  admission to Ph.D. in Biotechnology. All eligible applicants are informed to fill the application form, pay required application submission fee, and submit to the concerned office of the Head of the Department no later than 7th September 2018.  Candidate applying should have completed 18 years of education, obtained Master level in first division or a CGPA of 3.0 from any recognized universities. Admissions can be obtained both as Part Time or Full Time Research Scholar.

Integrated Rural Development Project (IRDP) of Nepal by Strengthening Research and Development Capacity of Kathmandu University
Call for Applications: KOICA-IRDP Pilot Project Funding Support Program

Background

IRDP is a KOICA-funded project jointly managed by Kathmandu University (KU), Nepal, Chonbuk National University (CBNU), Korea and Science and Technology Policy Institute (STEPI), Korea.

The main objectives of the KOICA-IRDP are:

1.     Contribute for integrated rural development of Nepal by strengthening research and development capacity of Kathmandu University.

2.     Promote technology innovation, mainly in the field of Agriculture & Rural Development, Renewable Energy and Health related livelihood, for improving quality of life and income status of people in rural communities of Nepal.

 

Call for Pilot Project Application

KOICA-IRDP pilot project application is open for all Nepalese Research Institutions (University, College and other organizations qualifying as research institutions) for supporting pilot projects that are relevant to Rural Development of Nepal.

These projects aim to

1.     Support technologies development to solve economic and social problems of rural areas in Nepal

2.     Develop a business model or commercialize for propagation of innovative technologies

3.     Test if an operation plan of technology development support programs is valid and feasible

4.     Generate information that is crucial for future technological innovations for rural development

The preferred areas for the proposal are:

1.     Agriculture and rural development sector

2.     New & renewable energy sector

3.     Health sector related to rural livelihood

4.     Other sectors contributing to integrated rural development

Establishment of the DoEEE/NORAD Endowment Fund

Kathmandu University Executive Committee has recently approved the establishment of the DoEEE/NORAD Endowment Fund which can be used for the following activities of faculty and students at the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

 

i)              Major activity funded for student(s),

a)     Innovative Research and Project

b)     Rural/Community Life Enhancement Project

c)     New Product Patent Support

 

ii)             Major activity supported for faculty,

a)     Research and Innovation

b)     Tranning and Impact Enhancement

c)     Corporate and Community Networking for academic development

d)     Disaster Relief and Humanitarian Support

The fund has been established to support faculty and student(s) for the innovative research, academic activities as well as to support in extreme humanitarian condition. DoEEE has already allocated 5 Million Nepalese Rupees from the various Projects and other activities conducted under the supervision and partnership of DoEEE with national/international institutions. The target of DoEEE/NORAD endowment funds is to raise 10 Million Nepalese Rupees in future.
