Department of Mechanical Engineering, School of Engineering in association with Center for Art and Design, School of Arts and in coordination with Turbine Testing Lab and Technical Training Center organized Art Engineering Workshop -3 from 9th to 15th February, 2015. The closing ceremony was held in Block-08, Room No. 203 on 15th February with the Honorable Vice Chancellor of KU, Associate Deans of School of Engineering, Head of Departments and other KU staffs and faculties as the invitees.
The trend of Art Engineering Started in 2012, with the main purpose of uniting the students of different departments and schools, in interdisciplinary projects. This workshop also focuses on giving the newly admitted undergraduate students an exposure of their fields, whether in engineering or in arts. It can also be taken as a sincere attempt to create an awareness of how the junks can be used to make something innovative and useful.
The program was anchored by Mr. Sailesh Chitrakar from Turbine Testing Lab. The welcome speech was provided by Dr. Hari Prasad Neopane, HOD of Mechanical Engineering Department, which was followed by the project overview by Mr. Gopal Kalapremi Shrestha from School of Arts. A token of appreciation was provided to all the involved staffs and certificates were distributed to the students. There were 9 different groups in the workshop, including 50 students from School of Engineering and 17 students from School of Arts. Prof. Bim Prasad Shrestha, Associate Dean of School of Engineering discussed about the need of interdisciplinary activities through department collaboration and the formal session ended with the closing remarks from the Honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ram Kantha Makaju.
